Get Loos have recently had the pleasure of teaming up with AGN Events to provide portable toilets for a selection of local football clubs’ fan zones.
Major championship clubs Sheffield United & Sheffield Wednesday both faced a similar problem – how to provide adequate toilet facilities to thousands of fans before they even enter the ground.
Their partner in charge of running the pre match fan zones for each club – AGN Events – approached us for a solution, which we were happy to help provide. Between both clubs, we provided a range of portable toilets to help keep fans comfortable throughout matchday.
What AGN Events had to say?
“Get Loos have been great to work with, their quick service and flexibility with our needs have been incredible! Lovely customer service from the team and look forward to working with them for the second year at the Sheffield Wednesday Fan Zone” – Cyd McCarthy, Marketing and Events Assistant at AGN Events.
As an extension of our service we ensure that all of our portable toilets are serviced between matchdays to prevent any unwanted problems such as leaks or blockages. We are also able to increase or decrease the amount of toilets provided ensuring a flexible solution tailored to the requirements each club has.
This solution has proved a to be a resounding success, improving conditions for match-goers, reducing long queues for existing toilet facilities, and making for a more pleasant matchday atmosphere and certainly one which was a lot more hygienic.
Why football fan zones require portable toilets
For football clubs, providing adequate sanitation & toilet facilities is more than just a courtesy – it’s a legal requirement.
According to official Article 22 of the UEFA Stadium Infrastructure Regulations
“A sufficient number of clean and hygienic sanitary facilities must be distributed evenly throughout all sectors based on an 80:20 ratio of men to women. Seated toilets and urinals must be equipped with flushes. Sinks and toilet paper and soap dispensers must be provided and firmly fixed in place”
In fact, UEFA takes these rules even further, providing the following specifications depending on the amount of men & women are expected to attend a sporting event or fan zone.
- 1 seated toilet per 250 men
- 1 urinal per 125 men
- 1 seated toilet per 125 women
Failing to meet these regulations can lead to football clubs landing themselves in hot water, leading to UEFA initiating disciplinary proceedings. These are evaluated on an individual basis with the extent of the punishment at UEFA’s discretion.
Additional benefits of installing portable toilets at football fan zones
Here at Get Loos, we have vast experience in providing portable toilets to the sports & events industries. As such, we have seen first hand the additional benefits that these facilities can provide on busy matchdays.
Additional benefits of portable toilets at sporting events include:
Guest Comfort – providing a comfortable experience to sports fans helps maintain a positive atmosphere and ensures that spectators continue utilising additional facilities such as fan zones.
Even Distribution – football fan zones can often be located a distance away from the nearest toilet, especially at larger stadiums or arenas. Portable toilets can be placed at convenient locations around the ground or fan zone ensuring they are available to everyone.
Accessibility – football fan zones are often serviced by a limited number of toilet facilities. Hiring portable toilets for your fan zone can increase the accessibility of these facilities helping to provide additional relief for fans.
