On 29th March 2026 the Sheffield Half Marathon returned to the city where around 7,000 runners and thousands more spectators lined the streets to support and raise money for create causes.
The run is another in the series of events we are supporting Run For All with and is one of South Yorkshire’s biggest running events. Starting and finishing in the city centre with a challenging route stretching out towards the Peak District.
How We Helped
For an event of this scale, everything needs to run smoothly behind the scenes, and that includes facilities. Which is where we came in, we provided 71 Toilets in total, featuring a mixture of Singles, Disabled Toilets and Urinals spread all over Sheffield city centre. We worked closely with the organisers in the lead-up to the event to plan placements, timings, and access.
On the day, our focus was simple:
- Deliver on time, despite tight constraints
- Adapt quickly when plans changed
- Work safely alongside other teams
- Keep everything moving without adding pressure to the organisers
We placed toilets across multiple locations, ensuring easy access for runners, staff and spectators. All of which had to be set up within tight timeframes and alongside other suppliers working to the same deadlines.
Challenges We Faced
Events of this scale don’t run without hurdles, and there were several factors that could have impacted smooth operations. Anticipating these challenges was critical to ensuring everything stayed on track.
Key challenges included:
- Early morning 5am deliveries
- Limited access windows due to road closures
- Coordinating with multiple vendors on site
- Working safely in busy, high-footfall areas
- Cold weather conditions adding pressure to timings
Toilets are one of those things people only notice when they’re missing or not good enough. But at events like the Sheffield Half Marathon, they’re critical. Without proper facilities for runners, staff, and spectators, the event simply doesn’t work.
